Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) - Northern New Jersey

Leaders Build Teams . . . Teams Build Leaders

Welcome
The RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) program has been designed to demonstrate Rotary respect and concern for youth by coaching selected student leaders and potential leaders in methods of responsible and effective leadership through an in-depth training experience.

This annual event gives selected young men and women the opportunity to participate in a structured weekend which focuses upon leadership and how each student can make a positive contribution to our society.

This program is a structured learning environment where notable dignitaries and recognized leaders in the community interact with the students as well as providing the students with real life opportunity to employ new techniques and understandings in an experiential settings.

About Us
Local Rotary Districts sponsor students for RYLA. The students are usually selected from local high schools that support the local Rotary Club. Once the selection is complete, the Rotary Club asks the nominees to complete the student application form and permission slip that is forwarded to the Chairman of RYLA. The RYLA office will then send the formal announcement, together with logistics and information regarding the program directly to the student.

RYLA is held on the campus of Drew University. This site has been selected for the conference not only for its beautiful surroundings and collegiate atmosphere, but its security and willingness to work with volunteer organizations in the pursuit of education and the development of youth.

Many students returning from the program have been energized to lead and/or participate in various projects within the local community. Ask your local Rotary Club how you can become involved.
