Managing Virtual Teams

This course recognizes that Project Management is becoming more diverse and far-flung. It is designed to deal with some of the problems encountered in dealing with teams that are not face-to-face and of different cultures. This course will deal with working with internal teams but can be modified to talk about dealing with outsourcing problems and the communication requirements thereof.

• Increase ability to work effectively in a non-local team
• Develop strategies to deal with unique aspects of non-co-located teams

This program will show you how to:

• Use multiple forms of communication to explain ideas
• Translate project objectives into understandable requirements in a virtual environment
• Integrate a virtual team to become an efficient unit
• Utilize cultural differences and timeframes to your advantage
• Introduce different cultures into the requirements at hand

Some of the topics to be covered:

• How culture, language and time zones affect project requirements
• Integrating individuals who exist in separate areas or time zones
• Chartering and building a virtual team
• Understanding the different requirements of a virtual team in a contractor mode

Who should attend?

Individuals who lead or participate in teams who aren’t located in the same area, country or time zone.
