Training,
Process and Project Development –
United Nations
The United Nations is a world peace organization with locations
and mission throughout the world. To support the security
of these locations and mission, the UN has a Security Service
of over 200 resources responsible for all functions and issues
related to all persons and properties. All of the missions
and sessions within the UN General Assembly are considered
projects; therefore, a need was identified to develop a standard
methodology to plan and carryout sessions and missions with
the greatest degree of accuracy and quality possible. Armiger
International supported these needs in the following ways:
During the four years Armiger International has worked with
the United Nations Security Services it has:
- Conducted a process flow analysis of how work enters the
unit, who requests it, what processes were used to perform
it and what individuals were used to implement request.
As a result of this process flow, a new unit entitled Special
Projects Unit was established to move requested projects
out of the security units into a more desirable location
away from the daily security concerns. Equally, a process
was established to manage special projects more effectively
and a simple computer program was developed to maintain
tracking and control of all such projects.
- Several training programs (including Project Management)
were developed and delivered to over 100 security officers
- Armiger International prepared a custom designed Pulse
Questionnaire which was completed by more than 100 security
officers. The results of this questionnaire revealed several
critical areas for concern including the need for a better
communications process. Various security officer task teams
were established to resolve these key issues, the result
of which was the implementation of new methods and procedures
and the introduction of additional training by outside sources.
- Armiger International also has been involved with the
building of a new database to record all security officer
information. This data base is designed to provide greater
accuracy of information as it pertains to each officer’s
records, history of accomplishment and skill levels necessary
to match appropriate personnel with various UN projects.
- Armiger International maintains an ongoing relationship
with the UN Security Services to provide continuing education
and process improvement
